Medicare Part D
Medicare prescription drug coverage (Medicare Part D) pays some of the costs for prescription drugs. Everyone with Medicare is eligible for this coverage, regardless of income and resources, health status, or current prescription expenses.
General Requirements
Deadline: The disclosure of creditable coverage status deadline is within 60 days after first day of plan year.
Creditable/Non-Creditable Coverage Notices to Participants: Plan sponsors must send Medicare Part D notices to Medicare-eligible participants, informing them whether employer-sponsored prescription drug coverage is creditable or non-creditable. Request from your carrier or TPA.
Creditable Coverage Status to CMS: Creditable coverage status of your health plan is determined each year typically by the carrier or TPA. You can request the Medicare Part D Creditable or Non-Creditable Coverage status to know if your Rx plan pays as good or better than Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage.
